Thought I'd take pictures today of our exciting day. (the word exciting should be said with lite sarcasm.) Josie started her day with a green spider. Theo and Wrigley made their room under the table. Later they had the first watermelon of the year. (ok might not actually be the first, but it makes a good caption) I am watching a "Friends" episode. Good Times. Ok back to our day. After naps we played outside in the water. You might not be able to tell, but her pool is not on level ground and most of the water poured out. You can see Wrigley in the background she is running and jumping into the big pool. In the background you can see our sunflowers. And even further in the background is a for sale sign because our neighbors house is for sale. Yes, this is your chance to be our next door neighbors.....!!! So Popsicles and more water. Some pictures of our cute pick princess. Joey just kissed Chandler...what holiday were they celebrating??
We went camping at Indiana Dunes State Park. Here is us in route. The kids fell asleep on the way....not because it is far but because we stopped at my grandma's first. I'm not sure why Theo covered his head with his blue blanket. This is my grandma. She is 93. She lives alone. Her mind and body are slowly going. She is ready to die. She has cleaned out all her attics and closets. She can't stand all my children at once. So I can only visit with another adult who can take the big kids outside. (Also you have to talk super loud looking right at her.) Aaron took the kids for a walk and Theo found a stick. Theo always finds sticks. Everywhere we go you can count on Theo finding a stick and holding onto it. Thankfully from a young age we have taught him that sticks live outside. So we don't have to battle the can-I-bring-it-home battle. Ok....so we went camping. It was great. We went camping with several other families. So there were lots of children. Our sites were right beside a playground and large sand area all shaded. There were swings, which you probably know are super important to Wrigley. (We were also close to water and a nice shower/bath house) The Dunes were about a 15 minute walk away. Sadly the first day there were biting flies. But the other beach times were better. We spent lots of time sitting and talking and playing cornhole(not sure what you call it where you're from) Wrigley and Theo have bad reactions to mosquito bites. We believe that is what happened here. Sometimes when you are camping you find lots of acorns. Then you realize that you should protect these acorns from the squirrels, so you put them in an empty gallon jug. hmm...that doesn't feel safe enough so you fill it full of sand. But just to be safe you curl up around it and fall asleep. That is, if you are really tired. And don't leave it alone while eating a smore. Here are some random pics of Josie. Camping her way. She is starting to get her own look. After she splashed in the dish pan, Theo wanted to also. When we weren't look he took off his underwear. This was a random camp moment. We were cooking hobo meals. They were amazing. I'm on the other side of the fire holding Theo and Wrigley. They were both having meltdowns. In summary. We went camping. It was great. We'd do it again. While posting this I've eaten a package of graham crackers because I am super tired and that's what I do.
Josie has her first tooth in and she has developed a large blister on her tongue above the tooth. It doesn't seem to bother her, although I think it has affected her nursing. Any suggestions what I should do?
While I was writing bills today, Wrigley was drawing the Cinderella story in a book. She asked me who my favorite princess was....
"uhmmm...I'm not sure (slightly distracted) I haven't thought about it much."
"I know mom. Your favorite is sleeping beauty cause you like to sleep a lot."
Right now Aaron and the kids are writing a list of things to take camping. Wrigley has been asking to make a list for several days. Aaron is helping her spell the words.
Our garden has sweet pea pods! I was planning on taking a picture to post, but it has rained all day. No lie. Steady rain since lunch.
Also we cut Theo's hair. All of it. There are no curls left. only the memory of them. (held in my heart)
"Learning to not-drown" lessons are going better. We started going to the bathroom right before leaving and changing clothes in the van afterwards. That helped with the Josie in the locker room. (Although later I saw parents going through doors that I was told were locked...so maybe it would not have been a problem.) The lessons got much more active after the first rough day. The kids were kept busier with practice. Theo doesn't listen as well as I'd like. His head is normally under the water when the instructor is talking. Or he is so close to the edge, that I see the instructor keeping a hand out to keep him from falling off. But he tries everything they ask him to and is very enthusiastic. Wrigley enjoys it and is doing well. She is also leaving Theo alone more, leaving her mother role behind a bit. Here are some pics. Aaron came on Friday and took them. The kids are on the far left. They are standing on a yellow platform. Here they are practicing kicks. In other news Josie is my first teether. Oh My. She has been fussy all week. She hasn't slept well and at times just wants to be held (Like on Tuesday when we went strawberry picking. ugh). My other babies got their teeth much later (starting at 12 months) so this young baby teething stuff is new to me. She is crawling all over. She goes straight for the cords behind chairs and to the hard tile by the front door. On Thursday we started shampooing our carpets. Aaron ran the machine the whole time. I so appreicated that. It was tricker than we thought to entertain the kids in the other rooms especially since it rained steady all day. Next time we will plan play dates with other people. The carpets look better and I'm so glad. We also put our furniture back in a different arrangement and the change is refreshing. And lastly - Yesterday Aaron and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. Marriage is better than I could have imagined. I am so proud to me his wife. He is an amazing man and father.
